Created in 1971, the Panthella lamp is one of Verner Panton’s best-known designs. In typical Verner Panton fashion, the lamp combines a playful, organic form with functionality; both the base and the dome act as light reflectors, creating a soft and pleasant glow. Panthella was born at a time when the designer was seeking new ways to experiment with color, form, and materials. The first Panthella lamp was introduced in 1971 in five vibrant colors and has since become a true 20th-century classic of product design.
The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Verner Panton’s birth. To celebrate this milestone, Louis Poulsen has revived Verner Panton’s original 1970s color palette and created a special collection that returns the iconic Panthella form to its original colorful context. This is an opportunity to experience one of Panton’s most significant designs exactly as the designer himself envisioned it at the time: bold, playful, and featuring a use of color characteristic of the era.
You can explore Louis Poulsen’s special collection dedicated to Verner Panton’s 100th birthday at ELKE Mööbel.
