LOCATION:
Ivana is an artist of Afro-Indigenous descent from Colombia, living in Võrumaa. She draws inspiration from the intricate patterns of nature - fractals (from Latin fractus, meaning 'broken'). In Indigenous art, 'broken' geometric patterns or slightly irregular shapes symbolize an opening - a door to the world of magic.
We invite you to step into this magical world and see how kirivöö and kanasu patterns intertwine, and what shapes are formed from natural fibers and the jewellery and bags made from them.
Additionally, participate in workshops (on Wednesday and Thursday) where Ivana will teach Wayuu crochet and Guna mola techniques, as well as the principles behind the creation and meaning of patterns.
