XIX Tallinn Design Festival Opening Show „TAKE RUUM, MAKE RUUM, BAKE RUUM: A Journey of Transformation"
The idea of the opening show is inspired by an empty historical space, where room is made for the new. Old memories are cleansed and aired. New ones are created. In this space, imagination will soon take flight.
One way or another, memories and history have to be chewed through and accepted - face to face with abandonment, desolation and dampness. Then the space can be taken over, the excess cleared away and new seeds planted. Let the space mature. Heat up all the potential with imagination and fantasy. TAKE SPACE, MAKE SPACE, BAKE SPACE - the sort of logical journey towards change. As long as something is happening. The room will be crowded again. Life starts to simmer.
The choreographed lingo of the opening is deeply intertwined with the atmosphere of the building and the sense that the revival of old places is part of the life circle and itself a continuous mill. A living ventilation. Life can be recreated as we dream it. We create space here, we make space here. From empty we create full. And we have hope, if we don't interrupt the crop circle of new ideas. A performance will be given by the musician EiK with the composer boipepperon, and the dance artist Maria Solei Järvet with her poetic vision in the choreography.
